Hamden Town Center Park Keeps on Truckin’: Fall Food Truck Festival TODAY

HAMDEN – To commemorate the close of a successful market season, the Hamden Town Center Park Commission wanted to celebrate with a festival — a food truck festival, being held TODAY, Friday October 18 from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. 18 area vendors will be dishing out deliciousness at this inaugural event.

Co-organizer Elizabeth Frias said, “We wanted an event to celebrate the end of a very successful season. As we are developing the Town Center of Hamden, not just the Park, it’s important to have frequent activity, and that smaller but more frequent activity is desirable to give the place life. That’s why Josh’s Jungle and the Farmers Market have been so successful this year. We’ve noted the increasing popularity of food trucks in the area, and it seemed like a great idea to promote the park while connecting local residents and small businesses with a fun event.”

When asked how participating vendors were selected, Frias continued, “We started with our founding farmers market vendors, DiSorbos Bakery, Sugar Bakery, The Spud Stud, Four Flours, Soup Girl, and  Elm City Kettle Corn. From there I wanted to make sure we had a great variety of different foods. I hand picked each truck ensuring we had a well rounded variety of foods from gourmet grilled cheese, steamed cheeseburgers, lobster, Southern fried chicken to falafel and organic soups.”

Other confirmed vendors at press time include: Caseus, Chubby Oven Pizza, Firedog, Food Extrovert, Fryborg, Lobstercraft, Lunchbox 23, Mamouns, Ricky D’s Rib Shack, Six Pence Pie Company, Spuds Your Way and Ted’s Steamed Cheeseburgers.

Musical entertainment will be provided by DJ Bry. The Town will have some seating available, but attendees are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets for a true picnic in the park. Parking is available at the Hamden Library, the Hamden Middle School, and on the South Lawn of Town Center Park.
